Hiking to Cat Cat in Sapa

On November 12, 2012 by Donna Laverdiere in Asia, Sightseeing, Travel, Vietnam

One of the hikes tourists can do on their own while in Sapa is a hike to Cat Cat, a small village in a valley just below Sapa. On our first day in Sapa, we decided a self-guided hike was the best way to go so we could get our bearings. The trip took us down a dirt road out of town, and then we meandered down into the valley, snapping photos along the way. We walked past some shopping stalls and then through a traditional Hmong village that seemed to be staged for tourists. But that didn’t make it any less interesting. Loren was particularly impressed with their irrigation system. We passed over a waterfall and then hiked our way back up along with pigs, water buffalo and the occasional motorbike. We had a great day observing the Hmong way of life and soaking up the views.

It looks so beautiful in Sapa. I enjoyed your choice of music for the trek, also the colorful cutouts that make the video look like a gift, which it is!! Glad you made it over the bridge! LOVE YOU BOTH.
